“And we all, with unveiled face, beholding the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from one degree of glory to another. For this comes from the Lord who is the Spirit.” 2 Corinthians 3:18
“Are being transformed” indicates a present, continuing process. The Lord, through the Spirit, is at work in my life. I will never be fully sanctified in this life. But I will be made like Christ when He completes His work in me – the day He returns to take me home!
“For I am confident of this very thing, that He who began a good work in you will perfect it until the day of Christ Jesus.” Philippians 1:6
I also must participate in my sanctification. It is not works-based righteousness, but “working out my salvation with fear and trembling.” Pastor Pennington describes human participation as “Maximum Human Effort!” I must pursue Christ every moment of every day! I am called to “take up my cross daily and follow Him.” The Christian walk is not passive. May I never be accused of being a nominal, passive Christian!
