running 4 – I feel like I’m in a weird Disney fantasy

What do Thumper, Sir Hiss, and Flower have in common?

They all decided to converge on me during the course of one week of training.

Not. Even. Kidding.

My running brings all the wildlife to the trail. (That’s for you, Ginny. 🙂 )

I’m the male version of Giselle.

But I wasn’t whistling, singing, dancing, or waving any wand.

I’m actually thankful for these crazy creatures. God graciously spices up my long runs with a variety of neat things to look at, smell, and experience. (FYI – I don’t think of skunk odor as pleasant. I was more referring to the eclectic collections of flora.)

Creation Moment: My recent runs take my mind back to the Genesis account of Adam naming various creatures. What an exciting (perhaps daunting?) task!

P.S. If a cute, fit, seemingly happy couple is SPRINTING in your direction, don’t smile and think to yourself, “Oh, that’s cute! They’re racing each other to see who is faster. Dawww!” No. Stop, turn around, and run after them. RUN. They are fleeing an active & vicious skunk. FLEE.

P.P.S. Thank you very much, cute couple, for not warning me. HOW RUDE. *said in best Stephanie Tanner voice*

  1. Recently, my runs have been more urban and less trail so, sadly, I have seen very little in the way of wonderful creation. Hoping to mix that up soon with some runs around a few lakes.
