thoughts after posting about hope…

I was reminded, after posting about God’s promise of my secure inheritance, of a verse in the New Testament. And I am sure of this, that he who began a good work in you will bring it to completion at the day of Jesus Christ. Philippians 1:6 More proof! I love knowing my God will not fail me, even if I fail Him. He alone began the work of salvation in me and He alone can complete it. When I became a follower of Christ, He saved me from the penalty of sin. Currently, I am being saved from the … Continue reading thoughts after posting about hope…

Just a thought…

TheĀ  Fruit of the Spirit brings a great picture to my mind. Paul mentions this concept in Galatians 5:22-23. “But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control; against such things there is no law.” Instead of saying the Christian should be producing each of these virtues individually, Paul says the Christian should be living out the fruit, singular, of the Spirit. These virtues are not produced separately. They are really just different facets of the same “fruit”. I like that word – facet. It reminds me of a bright, clear, colorful, shiny … Continue reading Just a thought…

looking up toward Him

True worshipers of God are to do so “in spirit and truth.” (John 4:24) But how can I worship God as His word commands when I don’t view Him as He truly is? A high view of God is essential for true worship. He is the Creator. He is Redeemer. He sustains His children. He will judge the earth…when HE says it is all over. For now, He is patient with all men. He is called the Most High. He is infinitely holy and pure. God the Son came in the form of a human baby; then, after living 33 … Continue reading looking up toward Him

Security

What security does my degree plan offer? A piece of paper. How secure am I with my current job? In the short run, I have a job. But what about the long run? Does my budget provide a feeling of security for any unexpected demand? Uh…. Is my future secure? YES! Let me clarify WHICH future is secure. Obviously, I am not guaranteed anything with respect to the near future. As a matter of fact, I’m not guaranteed much, if anything, during my life. I am certain of one thing in this life: death. I know that sounds very pessimistic, … Continue reading Security

Consecration

The definition of consecrate is to be set apart, sanctified; elsewhere, it is the devoting or setting apart of anything to the worship or service of God. In the New Testament, Christians are considered consecrated to the Lord: ~~~ “But you are A CHOSEN RACE, A royal PRIESTHOOD, A HOLY NATION, A PEOPLE FOR God’s OWN POSSESSION, so that you may proclaim the excellencies of Him who has called you out of darkness into His marvelous light….” 1 Peter 2:9 ~~~ Would it be that my life, every day, would be one that is consecrated to the Lord…not just on … Continue reading Consecration
