Just a thought…

TheĀ  Fruit of the Spirit brings a great picture to my mind. Paul mentions this concept in Galatians 5:22-23. “But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control; against such things there is no law.” Instead of saying the Christian should be producing each of these virtues individually, Paul says the Christian should be living out the fruit, singular, of the Spirit. These virtues are not produced separately. They are really just different facets of the same “fruit”. I like that word – facet. It reminds me of a bright, clear, colorful, shiny … Continue reading Just a thought…

looking up toward Him

True worshipers of God are to do so “in spirit and truth.” (John 4:24) But how can I worship God as His word commands when I don’t view Him as He truly is? A high view of God is essential for true worship. He is the Creator. He is Redeemer. He sustains His children. He will judge the earth…when HE says it is all over. Matthew 13:45-56, “Again, the kingdom of heaven is like a merchant in search of fine pearls, who, on finding one pearl of great value, went and sold all that he had and bought it.” The kingdom was so valuable to him, that he gave up everything to have it. Isn’t that what the gospel calls us to do? Give up everything we have and … Continue reading The Pearl

Guess what? More mirrors.

My personal study at the moment finds its location in the fifth chapter of Paul’s letter to the church at Galatia. I am currently studying the concept of Christian liberty…a.k.a. freedom. One of the cross-references I am using is 2 Corinthians 3:17-18, Now the Lord is the Spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty. But we all, with unveiled face, beholding as in a mirror the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from glory to glory, just as from the Lord, the Spirit. (Not only does this tie into my … Continue reading Guess what? More mirrors.
