Therefore, my beloved…

Therefore, my beloved, as you have always obeyed, so now, not only as in my presence but much more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling, for it is God who works in you, both to will and to work for his good pleasure. Do all things without grumbling or disputing, that you may be blameless and innocent, children of God without blemish in the midst of a crooked and twisted generation, among whom you shine as lights in the world…. He’s been faithful

I don’t always finish everything on my to-do list; He always fulfills every single promise He makes. I’m sometimes impatient; He’s always slow to anger and abounding in steadfast love. I struggle with internalizing pain and frustration; He is always there to hear my cry. I’m often faithless; He remains faithful, for He cannot deny Himself. I sometimes allow worldly enticements or struggles to steal my joy; He never changes, always satisfies, and is always holy. I occasionally let things people do or say offend me; How much have I offended others and, much more, the One who died for … Continue reading He’s been faithful

Broken Eagles

intentional forgetfulness

But whatever gain I had, I counted as loss for the sake of Christ. Indeed, I count everything as loss because of the surpassing worth of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord. For his sake I have suffered the loss of all things and count them as rubbish, in order that I may gain Christ and be found in him, not having a righteousness of my own that comes from the law, but that which comes through faith in Christ, the righteousness from God that depends on faith – that I may know him and the power of his resurrection, and … Continue reading intentional forgetfulness

Smelt me, please.

I’m not where I want to be, but I know how to get there. Priorities + Time = Magic. Not really. Sanctification is a process, y’all. Bear with me. It isn’t like I’m supposed to sit here and wait to be beamed up like Scotty to a whole new level of spirituality. (Sorry Trekkies. No offense.) MHE. Maximum Human Effort. What does Philippians say? work out your own salvation with fear and trembling. (2:12) Paul’s letter also says, for it is God who works in you, both to will and to work for his good pleasure. (2:13) David wrote one … Continue reading Smelt me, please.

Coffee + folk and blues. If I closed my eyes, I could find myself in a different place…far away. It was that good. One word: transported. I find myself being drawn away to another land. Plans are in the making. Past dreams are becoming very possible realities. In the same way that music and good coffee send a message, words, written and verbal, powerfully force my mind to consider and respond. The tongue is a powerful tool. A small muscle – but a large ego. The source of its power – the heart. I don’t know about you, but my … Continue reading transported.
