“And let us not grow weary of doing good, for in due season we will reap, if we do not give up.” (Galatians 6:9 ESV)
Do you ever get tired of working hard at doing good, especially when it’s sacrificially for others? Today’s verse is refreshing encouragement and highly motivational. Don’t give up. Do good. Leave the fruit and reward to God.
With all of the hatred, racism, terrorism, immorality, and anti-God rebellion multiplying in our culture, Christians have the unique opportunity and privilege to shine forth God’s love. And not just to other Christians or friendly neighbors or generous grandparents. The very next verse takes it a step further:
“So then, as we have opportunity, let us do good to everyone, and especially to those who are of the household of faith.” (Galatians 6:10 ESV)
Do good to everyone.
Tell others who God is, who they are in His sight, why they need a Savior, and how the Lord Jesus Christ is the exclusive way, truth, and life. Call people to action—repent and believe.
“For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, not a result of works, so that no one may boast. For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them.” (Ephesians 2:8-10 ESV)
What are our two main purposes in life? To glorify God and lovingly do good for others.
