My God Is So Big

Do y’all remember the song? It’s one childhood memory I’ve passed on to the next generation. “My God is so big, so strong, and so mighty. There’s nothing my God cannot do.” Nothing is impossible for the One who created and sustains the entire universe.

15. My God Is So Big!

I recently visited the Joni and Friends home office in Agoura Hills, CA. Joni gave me a tour of her art studio. (God has gifted her with such great talent in so many things. And she uses her giftedness so faithfully to do good for others and glorify her Creator & Redeemer.) On top of one of her studio bookcases stands a powerful saying:

Don’t tell God that you have a big problem, tell your problem that you have a big God.

Jesus created all things (Genesis 1), including the mountains, rivers, and galaxies. They’re all His beautiful, awe-inspiring handiwork (Psalm 19). He sustains all things, holding everything—every molecule—together (Colossians 1:16-17). He is the Savior of sinful humanity (John 3:16).

God is omnipotent, omniscient, and omnipresent.

No matter what comes my way, I can trust Him. Nothing takes Him by surprise. God is good all the time; all the time God is good.

“Trust in the LORD with all your heart And do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him, And He will make your paths straight.” (‭‭Proverbs‬ ‭3:5-6‬ ‭NASB‬)

Consider it all joy, my brethren, when you encounter various trials, knowing that the testing of your faith produces endurance. And let endurance have its perfect result, so that you may be perfect and complete, lacking in nothing.” ‭(‭James‬ ‭1:2-4‬ ‭NASB‬‬)

“Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all comprehension, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.” (Philippians‬ ‭4:6-7‬ ‭NASB‬‬)

So, just like in the children’s Sunday school song, I can still praise, trust, and rejoice in the Lord 30 years later because He is big, strong, and mighty. He is always able to accomplish whatever He desires and deems best.

My God is so big, so strong, and so mighty. There’s nothing my God cannot do…for you!
