I’ve been struck yet again by the power of God’s Word. Talk about a wake-up call to how I conduct my daily life!? My emotions, attitudes, thoughts, words, and actions are all affected by these powerful verses from “the disciple whom Jesus loved.” Do not love the world or the things in the world. Deny myself, take up my cross every day, and follow Christ. (Matthew 16:24; Luke 9:23) I died to my flesh and this world when I was saved. I now live as a doulos (slave) of Christ. (Galatians 2:20) I am to love Christ and people, not this world system or my flesh. (1 John 2:15-17) I am to excel still more in my pursuit of godliness!
