Yep, my brother and I decorated a door for the Christmas season….
The office complex we work at had a contest for door decorations…I couldn’t resist! This was a great opportunity not only to be creative, but also to be a witness to the rest of the complex.
Our design was based on a simple version of the nativity scene, with the stable and manger set in a “typical” Bethlehem environment. Using black posterboard as the background, we placed miniature stars in the “sky” part and we hung a “3D” Christmas star over the top center of the door. My brother drew the entire scene freestyle. Today, the mayor of Trophy Club came to judge the decorated doors. The winning categories were most elegant, most creative, and the tackiest. Our door actually won the category for most elegant! I almost never win anything, especially in a public setting like an office complex. For the prize, our office received a set of new office supplies! WOOHOO 😉
I really hope that everyone who passes by our door this Christmas season will remember the real reason for the season – Jesus Christ, the perfect gift, became the perfect sacrifice to redeem sinful man from the wrath of a holy and just God!!
“For today in the city of David there has been born for you a Savior, who is Christ the Lord.” Luke 2:11
“tres elegante” indeed!
